Beauty Business News, a Paris-based international trade journal for the beauty industry, had evolved editorially over its three-year life and the original design was tired and stretched by the addition of new sections, boxes and tables. The ticks and glitches within the old design also added enormously to the workload of our in-house production team.
We needed to update the image of the newsletter, to integrate it more with other newsletters from our publishing house, while maintaining its strong identity and recognition in the market. This is always a fine line to walk, as a redesign risks alienating those readers who already identify strongly with our product.
We hired Mr Fallon because his portfolio showed that he has extensive experience in making trade journals navigable, readable and beautiful. From our first meetings it was clear that, unlike other designers, Mr Fallon would be able to control any ego, rather to apply his design talent to our specific needs, which he understood very well from the beginning. Mr Fallon subtly redesigned the pages of BBN, evolving logos, font-families, headlines, boxes and tables. He understood the needs of both the editorial team and our in-house production team for an easy, flexible layout. While improving the look of the newsletter it also saved editorial and production staff's time. Mr Fallon also provided training on the new templates, including on-the-spot support during the implementation of the new design.
Everyone, from publisher down was happy with the work he did, and I would recommend his work without hesitation.
